Joshua Smith
Interior Designer

Designer Joshua Smith’s founding belief is that an interior is not just something we see, it’s something we experience.

Sparked by his journey with personal and spiritual development, Joshua left behind a career as a realtor in Texas to pursue his passion for creating spaces. Having attended the New York School of Interior Design, he began his design career under the guidance of Steven Gambrel. Only a year after launching his own design firm, he was named a “rising star” by House Beautiful Magazine. Now over a decade later, Joshua has built a portfolio ranging from modern sanctuaries to country estates across the country. His work has been featured in Veranda, Homes & Gardens, The New York Times, and Rizzoli’s 2019 book, “On Style”.

Considering not only form and decor, but the role of an interior, Joshua believes great design has the power to influence both our inner and outer worlds in positive ways each day. By bridging the connection between spiritual well-being and a beautifully lived-in aesthetic, he creates spaces that engage the senses, nourish the soul, and most of all, connect us to our best selves. More than transforming homes, his mission is to transform lives starting at home.

Today, Joshua is excited to be settling into the next chapter of his career and expanding on his offerings. He lives in Southern Vermont, where he recently opened a new home and design studio in the idyllic town of Manchester.

Joshua's Top product picks

brooklyn

Brooklyn 3-Light Double Shade Semi-Flush

I’m obsessed with the whole entire Brooklyn collection, which has become a go-to for me. The ability to customize and mix metals makes it even better. It can be a challenge finding unique flush mounts when you have lower ceilings, but when I found this… game changer. Even though it’s a flush mount, it still makes a statement and elevates the space – like having jewelry can totally uplevel an outfit.

Stacks

Stacks 6-Light LED Pendant

The moment I saw this at Market – I think I might have gasped out loud. I have not seen anything quite like it before – illuminated glass blocks with metal trims that feel like they are floating – just stunning. I’m currently using this over a bar in a Palm Springs new build. It feels minimal, yet so striking.

hibiscus

Hibiscus Large Pendant

Since Mother Nature is my ultimate muse for all my projects, when Hubbardton Forge launched this piece, I fell in love with this organic shape that gave “flower vibes”. It looks and feels like a sculpture and the best part is that you can choose to have it powder coated in ANY color. I did one in magenta!

triomph

Triomphe 1-Light Sconce

I love mixing metals into my designs, but there always needs to be a thread that ties it all together – like when you pull colors for throw pillows from artwork. This sconce does just that, in addition to being so chic and modern – yet works in ANY space.
