The Tura Story

Bringing Texture To The Surface

Designer Jason Hancock describes himself a problem solver. The problem was that he had developed an amazing texture and needed a way to showcase it. Jason worked with VP of Design and Product Strategy David Kitts to collaborate on initial forms that would best highlight the metal. Jason also developed glass prototypes in-house. A series of fusing and slumping and shaping several pieces of glass together produced an initial glass that varies little from the glass we are currently using in our final pieces.

The Multi-Port platform is a perfect place to showcase the design form as either separated entities having relationships with one another, or arranged as one large seamless installation.

Jason is a craftsman as much as he is a designer, understanding the materials, equipment and processes as well as anyone. His knowledge of the tools of the trade help him to create unique visual elements which often evolve into a product. Experimenting with glass, metal, stone and a variety of other materials has lead him to some very unique forms.
