I draw inspiration from every corner of my life - where I live, work, and play are all critical to the process. Whether it’s tinkering on my ’30 Ford Model A in the garage or taking my BMW GS off-road on a rugged trail, I find creative sparks in everything around me. The beauty of nature - the lakes, woods, mountains, or oceans - profoundly influence my designs. And my understanding of mechanics and how machines function, provides a solid foundation for many of the designs you see today. I love turning what seems impossible into reality through inventive engineering and relentless experimentation. Combining natural or unexpected materials with the power of LEDs has become my signature move at HF. And then, there's the magic of light and shadow. Using these as a medium allows me to craft lighting installations that surprise and delight, transforming spaces with unexpected moments delivered by the light itself. In the end, overcoming design and manufacturing challenges is crucial. Creating something beautiful is one thing, but understanding how it’s built and how it can be reproduced, that’s the science behind the art.
The Inspiration
There’s just something inherently cool about snaps and leather that I can’t resist. Maybe it’s the nostalgia from growing up near Harley-Davidson’s stomping grounds, or the way the hood straps on my dad’s vintage race car used to catch my eye. Whatever the case, the SNAPS Collection is a nod to the hot rodders and bikers who’ve left their mark on me. And let’s be real - snaps and leather aren’t just for the road or the garage anymore. A quick glance at any runway these days will show you they’ve become fashion staples. We’ve taken these classic elements and given them a new spin in the world of lighting, using the latest in LED technology to create pieces where function and form come together effortlessly — with a whole lot of attitude.
